Game for last day of school.

In celebration of the last day of our first semester: Tomorrow we shall be playing a one-day assassins game. Not that it's any different from past games, but... some rules changes. Big rules changes.

The name of the game is massacre.
rule number 1. You cannot deny that you are an assassin. If you are, say so. Only claim you are dead if you actually are dead.

rule number 2. No targets and killers. Anybody you know as an assassin is fair game. Kill indiscriminately.

rule number 3. Hurt innocents by all means, but DO NOT get us into trouble with the authorities. Please use discretion.

rule number 4. If you die, you are out of the game for TEN MINUTES. after which, you're back in and can continue slaughtering.

rule number 5. All already legal weapons are go, with the inclusion of bombs... Bombs consist of two parts. A detonator and an explosive.
i) detonators must make audible sounds. Find your own way to trigger them.
ii) the volume of explosive determines the blast radius of the bomb. Anybody caught within this radius is dead. formula: blast radius = 2.4 + 2.6 * ln (volume of explosive)
volume in litres, blast radius in metres.
If you use a timered bomb, it CANNOT be set to go off during a lesson. Any such bombs will result in immediate disqualification, and annullment of any kills made.
Bombs MUST be labeled with their blast radius already calculated, and with a disclaimer: "This is a fake bomb used by the raffles guild of assassins for the purposes of a mock assassination game. "

rule number 6. the person with the most kills as of 2.15 wins. Awards will be given out for longest killing spree, most kills at one go, most innovative kill, and the rest. All kills must be reported to me verbally or by SMS. verbally is preferred.

NOTE: these rule changes are NOT permanent. I just felt like deviating from the normal assassins routine to have a more massacre-styled game for the last day of school. When school re-starts, we'll revert to old rules.

EDIT: NO alone rule. Kills are legal at all in-bounds times and places, whether bearing or not. Morning before assembly is OUT OF BOUNDS for this game, because I need to make sure everyone's informed.

Run for SIG?

Title says it all. Should we run for SIG? If we go official we can advertise, get more players, fix proper safety limits, not get into trouble for running around with RBGs and talcum powder. But it might be difficult to get approval. Opinions, please?

Report for 26/4 game.

1. ang killed Tiong(no psuedonym) twice for bearing, and was lucky I didn't penalise him for using an illegal throwing knife the firs time.
2. twiddledoo assassinated ryanD (Kin Kit)
3. Xavier (no pseudonym) massacred bornagainchristian (Jing Xun)
4. silentgiggler killed Xavier (no pseudonym).
5. ang killed protofox (Shawn Chua)
6. silentgiggler killed ang (Derrick)
7. twiddledoo(Gerard) botched his attempt on silentgiggler and was stabbed.
8. silentgiggler dueled toby(wang) and was stupid enough not to backstab him. Both died.

Winner goes jointly to Wang and Ryan.

The psychopath award for most number of kills, legal or otherwise, goes to silentgiggler(Ryan D)!

The lemming award for earliest death goes to Tiong.

The other awards have been withheld because it was such a numbingly boring game. Buck up, people! Just for information though, the other awards (currently) are:

(could use some help in naming these... perhaps even after the first winners of the award, when the umpire decides to award them.)
the award for most successful newbie.
the award for most interesting kill
the award for stupidest death.
the award for most illegal targets killed
the award for most deaths (not for elimination games)
the award for best poison/bomb trap.
the award for best overall sneakiness.
the award for overall marksmanship with a ranged weapon.
the award for the most amusing attempt.

There won't be a game tomorrow 27/4, as JX and Rayner and I will be going to string ensemble SYF, and there would thus be too few people to play. Please try and recruit more people, from the sec4 GEP batch for now. Terence will be umpiring the next game (probably on thursday). Also, post suggestions for rules changes- we're trying to drastically slow down the pace of the game to involve more sneaking around and subtlety.
Might consider JX's suggested alone rule- only allowing kills in the absence of witnesses.

Have fun,

Adam

RULES

Ok. This is adam, and i'll be umpire for tomorrow's game. New rules:

1. Wanted list is applicable IMMEDIATELY. If you kill an innocent or an assassin who isn't your target, you are a valid target for everyone ONCE THEY ARE NOTIFIED. Depending on whether or not I like you, this period could vary.

2. After assembly/before first period is OUT OF BOUNDS. In bounds times are before assembly (everywhere), between lessons (outside classrooms ONLY), recess (outside classrooms only), lunch (outside classrooms only) and after the last period (everywhere).

3. Dead people CANNOT talk. You CAN tell others that you're already dead, but you can't tell them who your assassin is or who your target is. You CAN tell your assassin who his new target is, but that's the extent of it. Please refrain from giving any sensitive information to living players. Anybody found in breach of this will be disqualified for the next game.

4. Pre-emptive strikes: if you know who your assassin is, you can pre-emptively assassinate him before he attacks you or even draws a weapon. Be careful though, if you kill the wrong person you could be made wanted.

5. Experimentally, NO LIMIT to attempts per day. We found this very difficult to enforce. Do be reminded though, that if you reveal yourself to your target he can then hunt you down with impunity.

6. Presuming the game lasts more than a day - if more than 3 people claim witness to you killing your target or whoever, your real name could be revealed on this site instead of your pseudonym. Figure out the implications for yourself.

and some clarifications and tips:
if you make a kill/ are killed, sms me with the report. if you have multiple pseudonyms, tell me which pseudonym you want the report to be published under.
if you witness a kill, tell me in person after school or whatever.

contact poisons: These are limited to talcum powder and vaseline (hairgel) ONLY. anything else must be cleared with me, and will probably not be allowed. This is just for simplicity, because it's hard to judge what is and what isn't a contact poison.

On bearing: as long as the person has his weapon visible in ANY way on his person (i.e. not lying on a table), he is a valid target. This includes gun/knife handles sticking out of pockets, carrying bottles of talcum powder/vaseline etc. Again, beware of stabbing someone if you're not sure he's actually bearing a weapon. Killing the wrong person will make you wanted. Once he puts the weapon away or it is no longer visible he is NO LONGER a valid target.

Be less noobish this time too. DON'T take out your weapon if somebody asks you to. If you make a kill in the presence of others, it might be wise to store your weapon real quick. Use ranged weapons if you're being assaulted with knives. Stock up on rubber bands/squirt pistols/catapults.

NEW WEAPONS: Hairgel is allowed as a contact poison. But please, please try not to get it on people's books and stuff. be discrete. Catapults are allowed as ranged weapons provided you only fire paper balls from them. Also don't aim at people's heads.

IMPORTANT! By end of school tomorrow please provide me with a NEW pseudonym that I'll use in the report if somebody's still alive at the end of the day. Remember, pseudonyms are to conceal your identity, so try to have nothing at all to do with your real name. If I don't get your pseudonym by end of sch tomorrow i'll be forced to publish your real name...

request

Just a little reminder: please send in your apps ASAP.
Like, tonight. We've already missed a day cos the umpire hasn't gotten all the applications... we won't start unless we have a significant number of people like 15.
For those who are hesitant... just submit first. If you get pancaked later it isn't my business. And it doesn't take very long...
if we STILL don't have enough apps by the end of tuesday I will personally get JX to torture you with a stick.

Game applications

The Raffles Assassins Guild is proud to present the first ever game of Assassins in Raffles Institution. This is a beta test for the future games we will conduct.

Applications are to be submitted to xun1989@hotmail.com with the information requested below. Incomplete applications will be considered null and void. Please submit all applications by Sunday 17th April, six pm. Your target will be given to you by Sunday 17th April, 10 pm. The game will officially start on Monday 18th April, 12:01 am. An indemnity form will be issued on Moday for you to sign.

Please read the rules, and start preparing your weapons. If you are at all in doubt about a weapon's validity, do not hesitate to contact the umpire immediately. Do not risk a kill being invalidated because the weapon was illegal.

If you have any questions at all, once again do not hesitate to contact me to clarify them. Good luck everyone, and have fun.

-JX (Umpire)
